Organizations and businesses are sitting on more data than ever before, and the fact remains that most of this data won't be called upon regularly.
'Cold' data, as it's called, represents between 60-80% of all data stored today. Inevitably, these data resources must be archived properly so they can be referenced easily when needed. With the proliferation of products aiming to provide such a service, Amazon Web Services Inc., with its S3 Glacier offering, seeks to set itself apart from the rest.
