Fortinet Recognized As A Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice For Enterprise Wired And Wireless Lan Infrastructure
It's well known that Fortinet delivers the most-deployed network security solution on the market, representing over one-third of all firewall shipments.
Fortinet is also a serious networking vendor with technology in SD-WAN, Ethernet switching, Wi-Fi access points, and more. We believe our position as a networking leader is further exemplified by Fortinet being named a Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice for Enterprise Wired and Wireless LAN Infrastructure for the fourth year in a row.

The Importance of Security-Driven Networking

Organizations value Fortinet's network offerings because they bridge the gap between networking and security-breaking down silos that have existed for years-to offer a better experience both for the groups running the network and the users who rely on it to get their jobs done.

Major Retailer Converges Network And Security Systems With Fortinet Secure SD-WAN
For most retailers, effective networking must deliver on the three Ps: protection, performance, and price.
One major retailer with more than 1,700 stores had found that its legacy network was failing to meet any of these touchstones. For one, it was obliged to manage its security and network devices separately, which added cost and complexity. Additionally, given the adverse effect it had on network performance, the retailer could not fully utilize its IPS (intrusion prevention system). Other challenges included poor performance optimization and limited visibility into network traffic.

Overall, the retailer found itself with an expensive system that adversely affected business performance and profitability.

New Global Ot And Cybersecurity Report Outlines Key Challenges For Industrial Organizations
Fortinet recently released the 2022 State of Operational Technology and Cybersecurity Report.
Based on a detailed survey conducted in March 2022 of more than 500 global operational technology (OT) professionals, the report's data highlights the current state of OT security and provides a roadmap to better secure OT organizations.

The need to improve OT security is underscored in the report, which found: 93% of OT organizations experienced an intrusion in the past year, and 78% of them experienced more than three intrusions.

Air-gapped No More

Traditionally, security was not as critical a consideration when programmable logic controllers (PLCs)-the brains of any industrial control system (ICS) or OT network-were designed. PLCs never verified the authenticity of message senders, and controller communications had zero encryption capability. Previously, there was no need for these security measures because an organization's OT network was always air-gapped from their IT network.

Citrix/ServiceNow Integration: Five Benefits For Global Systems Integrators
While chatbots have been hailed by some as the future of IT support, some IT leaders say chatbots aren't very robust.
For example, IT teams still find themselves manually handling common incidents such as virtual application and desktop session 'resets.'

In simpler terms, while chatbots manage IT tickets on the frontend, they still require manual help desk intervention on the backend - even for simple things. Citrix session resets have been identified as a 'Top 5 use case' and the need for resets can be caused by a variety of factors, such as networking issues, forgotten passwords, or an issue with the IT organization's chosen authentication policies, such as single sign-on or multi-factor authentication.

Why Hybrid Work Works
Employees given the flexibility to work both in an office and at home report higher levels of engagement, productivity and wellbeing.
Whether businesses like it or not, hybrid work is here to stay, and employees like it. And whether they believe it or not, the model is working. Research shows that hybrid workers - those who work partly in an office and partly remote - are more productive and engaged than employees who are entirely office-based or fully remote. They also report better wellbeing - both physical and mental - and feel more positive about their organization.

Despite the evidence and clear benefits that hybrid work can deliver, many companies are still grappling with whether and how to implement it. Some business leaders feel that real work can't get done outside the office. But if implemented properly, flexible work models can lead to a more productive, healthy workforce.

How Your Drive For Sustainability Can Impact The Employee Experience
The ethos of the sustainable business has become a corporate ideal that's on everyone's radar.
Conversations about carbon footprints, water and energy consumption, production waste, social inequality, product recyclability, and other dimensions of sustainability are more serious. And even customers and partners are growing more vocal about their expectations.

But this sustainability mindset rarely translates to workplace culture in the same way. While new policies, processes, and practices are being adopted at an incredible pace, little attention is paid to how people internalize the purpose and impact of their work and how that sentiment changes the dynamics of talent attraction, retention, and engagement.

SAP's Bold Vision To Strengthen The World's Supply Chains
Just last year, SAP celebrated the 25th anniversary of the founding of Ariba. A few years after the company was founded, Ariba Network was launched.
The concept was both simple and revolutionary: digitize the paper documents companies send, like purchase orders (POs) and invoices, and enable communication via a common digital language.

Innovation That Changed Procurement Forever

When it was introduced in 1998, Ariba Network took the exchange of procurement documents far beyond the realm of PDFs and e-mails. This was true data exchange. Overnight, companies gained the ability to send and receive POs and invoices electronically - system to system. And with digital versions of their documents, they saved time and money by delivering accurate invoices via three-way document matching (POs, invoices, goods receipt notices). This was a game changer that helped companies wrangle procurement spend and increase efficiency.

Finding Order In Chaos: Making Sense Of Unstructured Data
Managing unstructured data is key to business growth.
Every organization today is data-rich. Today, it is widely acknowledged that no organization can effectively service their customers without investing in some form of data-driven technology and analytics. As companies double down on digital transformation, more capacity is needed to process a wider variety of applications from files and objects to streams, forcing them to prioritize a well-designed digital infrastructure investment.

Rapid advancements in computing power and 5G connectivity (check out my take on the future of 5G here) are top-of-mind scenarios that create vast quantities of data and increase enterprise workloads across Edge, Core and Cloud. By 2025, there will be 175 zettabytes of data in the global datasphere, of which 80% will be unstructured. However, Deloitte reported that only 18% of organizations could take advantage of such data, underscoring a huge opportunity for businesses to derive valuable insights and make data-driven decisions.

Introducing Viva Sales, A Modern Way Of Selling That Brings Together Any CRM, Microsoft 365 And Teams
Today we're introducing Viva Sales, a new seller experience application that brings together any customer relationship management technology (CRM), Microsoft 365 and Teams to provide a more streamlined and AI-powered selling experience.
The past two years have changed the way we work. Employees are demanding more from their employers in today's hybrid world - from the tools they use to the hours and the places that they work. For sellers, the hybrid work environment means spending more time in video conferences, chats, email and documents to connect with customers and close deals.

Salespeople also need to access their CRM system - as well as multiple applications and databases - several times a day to stay on top of their accounts. This adds up to dozens of interruptions as they navigate among these disparate applications and the collaboration and productivity tools they're using to accomplish administrative tasks, collaborate internally and work on deals. Yet, all sellers really want is to spend more time with their customers.

Narrowing The Data Gap: World Bank And Microsoft Commit To Unlocking Better Development Outcomes For Persons With Disabilities
Across the world, persons with disabilities remain invisible in the global development agenda. One key reason is because of variances in the availability and use of disability-disaggregated data across organizations and borders.
While it is estimated that one billion people, or 15 percent of the world's population, have a disability - more data is needed to understand the true scale of the living conditions and development outcomes for persons with disabilities, and to get clarity on the degree to which persons with disabilities continue to be underserved.

This reality is a part of what the World Bank calls the disability divide - the gap in societal inclusion for persons with disabilities in all stages of development programs, including education, employment and digital inclusion. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated this risk and exposed some of the existing inequalities faced on a regular basis.

Deploy Enterprise Applications On Red Hat Enterprise Linux In Microsoft Azure
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) provides the stable foundation for advanced workloads both on-premises and in public clouds such as Microsoft Azure
For Azure, Red Hat and Microsoft have been working together to provide the tools needed to deliver workloads faster, with less effort - backed by tightly integrated, enterprise-grade support. Many of today's workloads require some form of enterprise database, and one of the most popular is Microsoft SQL Server.

We've given several presentations covering how using RHEL as the operating system platform for SQL Server helps organizations to reduce costs, avoid reliance on a single vendor, and increase performance. The response from SQL Server DBAs has been impressive with nearly one third of those surveyed by Red Hat and Unisphere Research saying that they were running the database on Linux today, and RHEL being the most popular distribution for deployment.

Post-Quantum Cryptography, An Introduction
A new type of computer is being developed that can break many of our existing cryptographic algorithms.
As a result, we need to develop new algorithms that are secure against those computers and that will run on our existing computers. This is called "post-quantum cryptography".

What is a quantum computer?

In 1981, Richard Feynman proposed a new way to model quantum interactions in complex systems. There is a problem when modeling these interactions, however, in that we need to represent each linked particle as a set of probabilities. As we add particles, these arrays grow exponentially. For any sufficiently large system, we can no longer handle the storage and time requirements using existing computers.

TrustyAI - An Open Source Project Looking To Solve AI's Bias
The next decade will see giant leaps forward in 5G, edge computing, enterprise Linux and plenty of other areas. As organizations look at the opportunities ahead, they must weigh both the opportunities and the risks.
One such exciting area is artificial intelligence (AI). As the tools and methodologies advance, many organizations are looking to use AI to improve business efficiencies, bring innovation to customers faster, gain actionable market insights and more. However, the rush to put AI in place without always knowing what it can be used for, or how to use it, can lead to problems with the systems and the data itself. We have heard many stories of when AI makes the "wrong" decision due to built-in biases, and in some cases, the outcome can be life or death.

Using Cloud, Application And Data Services - Plus Other Hosted Tools - In The Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Console
In a recent blog post, we talked about why many people are choosing to use cloud services instead of self-managed infrastructure.
According to a recent report, 68% of organizations are deploying application services in cloud environments.1 Using cloud services, including application and data services, helps teams focus on the work that's most important to them while trusted experts manage the infrastructure. Using Red Hat OpenShift cloud services―including application and data services like Red Hat OpenShift Streams for Apache Kafka, Red Hat OpenShift API Management and Red Hat OpenShift Data Science―helps organizations shorten development cycles.
