What Is A QPU?
A QPU, aka a quantum processor, is the brain of a quantum computer that uses the behavior of particles like electrons or photons to make certain kinds of calculations much faster than processors in today's computers.
Just as GPUs and DPUs enable accelerated computing today, they're also helping a new kind of chip, the QPU, boot up the promise of quantum computing.

In your hand, a quantum processing unit might look and feel very similar to a graphics or a data processing unit. They're all typically chips, or modules with multiple chips, but under the hood the QPU is a very different beast.

Building Consistent Visibility and Control Across Your Multi-Cloud Network with FortiCNP
One of the top challenges affecting security teams today is solution sprawl resulting from rapid digital transformation
Nearly 60% of organizations have deployed 30 or more security tools across their organization, and almost a third have more than 50. This creates a logistical nightmare that can quickly overwhelm IT teams struggling to maintain an aggressive digital acceleration strategy. It's one of the reasons why, according to Gartner, 80% of organizations are executing or are focused on vendor and solution consolidation.

Edge Native Applications Are Conquering The Edge
When you are reading about 'the Edge,' do you always know what is meant by that term?
The edge is a very abstract term. For example, to a service provider, the edge could mean computing devices close to a cell tower. For a manufacturing company, the edge could mean an IoT gateway with sensors located on their shop floor.

There is a need to categorize the edge more, and fortunately there are some approaches. One of them is coming from the Linux Foundation (LF Edge), which is categorizing the edge into a User Edge and Service Provider Edge. The Service Provider Edge means to provide server-based compute for the global fixed or mobile networking infrastructure. It is usually consumed as a service provided by a communications service provider (CSP).

Securing Cloud Is Everyone's Responsibility
Cisco and AWS demonstrate shared responsibility that identifies Security 'of' the Cloud versus Security 'in' the Cloud.
Shared responsibility remains central to every cloud initiative and defines how cloud providers and customers work together to achieve maximum security across all aspects of the cloud. While shared responsibility is a common term, surprisingly few people understand the model and fewer still have implemented it correctly. The lack of consistent security controls across cloud services does not go unnoticed by attackers, as they probe for vulnerabilities and slip undetected through unsecured cracks.

Unscrambling Cybersecurity Acronyms: The Abcs Of Endpoint Security
Ransomware and other advanced attacks continue to evolve and threaten organizations around the world.
Effectively defending your endpoints from these attacks can be a complex undertaking, and a seemingly endless number of security acronyms only compounds that complexity. There are so many acronyms - EPP, EDR, MEDR, MDR, XDR, and more - for various cybersecurity products and services that it becomes difficult to understand the differences between them and choose the right solution for your organization. Deciphering all these acronyms is a task on its own and deciding which solution works best for you is even more challenging.

Datacore Spotlights Paths To Content Efficiency At SVG's Content Management Forum
As the amount of content being created by sports organizations grows, managing content for remonetization and preservation becomes increasingly more difficult. DataCore's Alex Grossman details new options for taming the demands of the digital asset lifecycle.
DataCore Software, the largest independent vendor of Software-Defined Storage solutions, is helping illuminate the opportunity to help transform the way video content is used and viewed at SVG's Sports Content Management Forum this week in New York City.

Architectural Considerations For Open RAN Deployments
Open RAN is a positive development for the industry, what are the considerations for architectures?
With the introduction of Open RAN solutions, communication service providers (CSPs) now have much more flexibility in architecting and deploying their RAN systems. Traditionally, RAN systems are built by a single vendor and feature all the functionality in a single base station unit. With Open RAN, however, CSPs now have the option of choosing best-of-breed RAN solutions from multiple vendors and deploying those RAN functions-specifically, the centralized unit (CU), distributed unit (DU) and radio unit (RU)-in a disaggregated fashion across their network.

Construct Your IT Modernization Strategy With Pieces That Fit
Not utilizing Validated Designs is like trying to complete a building block set without any instructions.
When my son was younger, he had an unquenchable thirst for LEGO blocks. Whether it was when he was sick, a gift for his birthday, or every holiday, he always asked for them. He even has the state capital and space shuttle sets. Interestingly, he always kept the directions. One day, I asked him, 'why do you keep the directions?' He said just in case he wanted to build something the 'right' way, he would always have them.

It made me think that LEGO sets are very much like Dell Validated Designs. Validated Designs are proven solutions that help customers build with confidence, get to market faster and enable business without boundaries. They are pre-tested and integrated configurations, designed from the start to dynamically fit needs based on specific use cases.

Why The Hybrid Workplace Needs A Hybrid IT Model
Your hybrid workplace calls for a new approach to managing your multicloud. Are you up to the challenge?
Hybrid work- people working seamlessly from both the office and a remote location- has been happening for years, but the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the shift in ways few people anticipated. Ironically, while IT's efforts to support these environments boosted business agility worker productivity, it also further complicated already complex IT portfolios.

Here's the issue: This glut, comprising a hodge-podge of public cloud, private cloud and edge solutions from several vendors and homegrown on-premises tools, is proliferating as companies lean more heavily into their digital transformations. We call this phenomenon multicloud by default: portfolio sprawl that makes it difficult to be thoughtful and strategic with your multicloud approach.

Winning Together With An Account Service Plan
Delivering operational excellence needs a plan to become sustainable and successful, an Account Service Plan.
No matter the account, all account managers have the same simple goal; make the customer happy. The challenge is how will we get to where we want to go without a plan? Would you get in a car, determined to arrive at your destination without any idea of how to get there? No, you would determine where you want to go and then plan how to get there, which directions to take, how much time and gas are needed and so on. The same is true for the Account Service Plan which is used to align the practices of Dell Technologies with those of the customer in order to arrive at our destination - operational excellence.

From Resilience To Digital Perseverance: How Organizations Are Using Digital Technology To Turn The Corner In Unprecedented Times
Our annual partner conference, Microsoft Inspire, just concluded. The conversations I had with Microsoft's partner community echo those I have had recently with leaders from both established organizations and earlier-stage enterprises
Leaders across industries share a commitment to innovation as the only path forward through uncertainty in global markets, especially as they continue to strengthen their security posture, reduce their carbon footprint, inject more visibility into their supply chains, and promote more inclusive prosperity in the communities where they operate.

I see this shared commitment as part of a trend I call digital perseverance. It is the ability of organizations to thrive despite risk when they harness and wield digital technology to achieve their business goals and do more with less. Here are examples of organizations that have embraced digital capabilities to persevere in collaboration with Microsoft.

Virtio-Net Failover: An Introduction
Virtio-net failover is a virtualization technology that allows a virtual machine (VM) to switch from a Virtual Function I/O (VFIO) device to a virtio-net device when the VM needs to be migrated from a host to another.
On one hand, the Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) technology allows a device like a networking card to be split into several devices (the Virtual Functions) and with the help of the VFIO technology, the kernel of the VM can directly drive these devices. This is interesting in terms of performance, because it can reach the same level as a bare metal system. In this case, the cost of the performance is that a VFIO device cannot be migrated.

On the other hand, virtio-net is a paravirtualized networking device that has good performance and can be migrated. The trade off is that performance is not as good as with VFIO devices.
