Readers of this article know me primarily from my work in cloud computing and cybersecurity. Others may have recently learned of me from my digital transformation lectures and 'Digital Business' online application.
The quiet few also worked with me within the guarded facilities and locked doors of the United States Intelligence Community. The one thing, however, that many of you don't know is that I was both a military and civilian pilot. I mentioned this because I have over 3,000 hours of experience flying many aircraft through white clouds, gray clouds, and even a few black ones. I've piloted many aircraft through the airspace of many countries while accumulating over 200 traps on US aircraft carriers. I have literally piloted planes around the globe! This experience is why I feel exceptionally qualified to act as your 'Multi-Cloud Pilot.'

vSphere 8 Update 1 Achieves General Availability
vSphere 8 Update 1 was released as Initial Availability (IA) on April 18th. The vCenter component was released straight to General Availability (GA) on the same day, April 18th. As of today, ESXi has also now achieved GA.
Hence, today the vSphere team is delighted to announce that we're switching the vSphere 8 Update 1 designation from IA to GA.
Since the IA was released about three weeks ago there have been a significant number of downloads. From our phone-home telemetry (CEIP), we observed the ESXi IA was installed by the tens of thousands. Considering telemetry only provides a subset of actual deployments (customers are free to opt out), we know that the IA was very widely adopted across our customer base. At that time, zero critical issues were reported.

Despite the continued demand for hybrid working, global IT leaders are failing to recognize the full extent of the connection between their enterprise network and employee experiences. That's according to the latest research released by HPE Aruba Networking, which found that while three quarters of respondents believe digitization is fundamental both to employees being able to do their jobs and for talent attraction and retention, just 55% see the strong relevance of the network to these areas.
The research, which features responses from 2,100 IT leaders across 21 countries, examined how IT leaders are currently approaching the enterprise network, and assessed the extent to which they and the organization understand its role as a business-boosting asset and the impact they are seeing as a result.

Seventy-five percent of organizations will have implemented a data center infrastructure sustainability program driven by cost optimization and stakeholder pressures by 2027, up from less than 5% in 2022, according to Gartner, Inc.
'Responsibilities for sustainability are increasingly being passed down from CIOs to infrastructure and operations (I&O) leaders to improve IT's environmental performance, particularly around data centers,' said Autumn Stanish, Senior Principal Analyst at Gartner. 'This has led many down the path of greater spend and investment in environmental solutions, but environmental impact shouldn't be the only focus. Sustainability can also have a significant positive impact on non-environmental factors, such as brand, innovation, resilience and attracting talent.'
