Top 6 Enterprise Data Protection Challenges
As the market for data protection grows, customers and consumers have grown accustomed to fast, easy and intuitive data pipelines. Enterprises, on the other hand, face a volume of complexities and dependencies that most consumers never encounter, and are often times discounted from these consumer-focused luxuries.
In a world where data is located across many different clouds and systems, organizations must ensure that the data they produce is always available, scalable and protected - but it's not so simple. Taken from the Making an Impact with Modern Data Protection whitepaper, a successful enterprise data protection strategy is able to:
  • Support complex, hybrid, multi-cloud environments and enterprise workloads
  • Manage across multiple locations and geographies
  • Scale to 1,000s to 10,000s of protected devices

Easier said than done, right? Enterprise data protection consists of supplying, handling and monitoring security across all data repositories and entities within an enterprise, which is tasked with safeguarding against ransomware, controlling compliance and governance regulations, and removing uncertainty from application deployment.

10 Key Multi-Cloud Strategies: Complete Cloud Cost Visibility
Understanding and controlling your cloud spend is a struggle every business will encounter. According to a recent IDC study, one of the top challenges IT decision-makers face is controlling cloud costs
For most organizations, the issue is not having complete visibility into all their cloud resources. This could be due to other departments going around IT to fund their development projects or a recent M&A leading to adopting a new cloud provider. In any case, organizations have a hard time controlling what they cannot see.

Guest Blog: The Multi-Cloud Pilot - How The World Has Changed
Readers of this article know me primarily from my work in cloud computing and cybersecurity. Others may have recently learned of me from my digital transformation lectures and 'Digital Business' online application.
The quiet few also worked with me within the guarded facilities and locked doors of the United States Intelligence Community. The one thing, however, that many of you don't know is that I was both a military and civilian pilot. I mentioned this because I have over 3,000 hours of experience flying many aircraft through white clouds, gray clouds, and even a few black ones. I've piloted many aircraft through the airspace of many countries while accumulating over 200 traps on US aircraft carriers. I have literally piloted planes around the globe! This experience is why I feel exceptionally qualified to act as your 'Multi-Cloud Pilot.'

vSphere 8 Update 1 Achieves General Availability
vSphere 8 Update 1 was released as Initial Availability (IA) on April 18th. The vCenter component was released straight to General Availability (GA) on the same day, April 18th. As of today, ESXi has also now achieved GA.
Hence, today the vSphere team is delighted to announce that we're switching the vSphere 8 Update 1 designation from IA to GA.

Since the IA was released about three weeks ago there have been a significant number of downloads. From our phone-home telemetry (CEIP), we observed the ESXi IA was installed by the tens of thousands. Considering telemetry only provides a subset of actual deployments (customers are free to opt out), we know that the IA was very widely adopted across our customer base. At that time, zero critical issues were reported.

As Digitalization Demands Increase, It Leaders Miss Vital Connection Between The Enterprise Network And Employee Experiences
Research suggests more organizations realize the network's impact on broader business objectives but opportunity remains to unlock full potential
Despite the continued demand for hybrid working, global IT leaders are failing to recognize the full extent of the connection between their enterprise network and employee experiences. That's according to the latest research released by HPE Aruba Networking, which found that while three quarters of respondents believe digitization is fundamental both to employees being able to do their jobs and for talent attraction and retention, just 55% see the strong relevance of the network to these areas.

The research, which features responses from 2,100 IT leaders across 21 countries, examined how IT leaders are currently approaching the enterprise network, and assessed the extent to which they and the organization understand its role as a business-boosting asset and the impact they are seeing as a result.

Predictive Analytics Elevates You From Crisis Response To Crisis Avoidance
Day in and day out, hour after hour, they are tending to fires and other threats to livelihoods, property, and infrastructure. Diligent and often putting their personal lives in a far second-place position, they keep people safe and regularly prevent untold thousands-even millions-of dollars in damage.
Thank goodness for those dedicated IT professionals in so many organizations.

Perhaps you thought we were speaking of firefighters or other kinds of first responders? They are to be honored and are inherently important, but in business after business, the IT staff-whether it's one person or many-stands against disaster just as stolidly. Granted, with much less threat to life and limb.

Imagine, though, what harm could be done to your business and your customers if you didn't have an IT team to prevent or douse the many fires that erupt regularly, threatening efficiency, capacity, security, and more.

Imagine how much more your IT staff could do to fend off disaster with better tools in their possession, tools like predictive AI capabilities that integrate directly into your data management solution.

Put out fires faster and more efficiently

Red Hat Enterprise Linux For SAP Solutions 9.2 - Just Use It
In the 1990s, Nike staked its claim on innovative athletic performance with the iconic marketing campaign Just Do It.
Today, many memes exist with a throwback to this vintage slogan with visions of brains and the command of Just Use It. Those of us working on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) think the same thing for optimal performance without worry when it comes to RHEL for SAP Solutions and our 9.2 release.

The new capabilities in RHEL are dedicated to helping organizations attack the complexity of the hybrid cloud, with features that deliver a more repeatable, scalable, easy to manage Linux estate across the footprint-agnostic, multi/hybrid cloud. This alone makes the life of the administrator easier and more efficient, and lowers the bar to entry for new administrators.

Red Hat Insights Brings Resource Optimization To Red Hat OpenShift
As organizations expand cloud-native operations and introduce new platforms, the variable and scalable nature of Kubernetes can be highly beneficial to operations, but also challenging to manage.
Decentralized information from varying, fragmented tools can be difficult to oversee, making it difficult to track spend across footprints. This insufficient cost monitoring can lead to overspending quickly, and can inhibit IT from realizing the full value of hybrid cloud and Kubernetes investments. Organizations are constantly challenged with doing more with less, whether it's budget, talent or time. To fully maximize business value in economic uncertainty, new processes and tools are imperative to stay dynamic.

Speed Innovation With New Features In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2 And 8.8
It's no secret that IT organizations are asked to do more than ever before. While earlier digital transformation efforts were often limited in scope to a single business unit or platform, today's initiatives are frequently far more expansive.
IT teams are now expected to execute end-to-end transformation projects, connecting technology, people and processes across their organizations. These projects encompass a broad spectrum of infrastructure, tools, operations and requirements, significantly increasing complexity and risk.

That's where Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) comes in. Trusted by IT organizations for more than 20 years, RHEL provides a more flexible, stable and consistent platform for building and deploying applications and services across hybrid environments with less effort.

Data Data Everywhere, Not A Byte To Use
Dell Technologies and Starburst are helping organizations simplify and accelerate data-driven value creation.
The global data footprint is growing at an exponential rate. It's expected to be a few hundred zettabytes (that's 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes and counting) in the next few years. Meanwhile, a typical enterprise today manages petabytes of data - spread across on-prem, cloud, edge and multiple systems ranging from relational databases, warehouses, data marts and data lakes.

Recognizing that data access is often the first (and most cumbersome) aspect of activating data, Dell recently announced a partnership with Starburst Data, whose industry-leading platform offers answers to many problems organizations are facing with their data.

Gartner Predicts 75% Of Organizations Will Have Implemented A Data Center Infrastructure Sustainability Program By 2027
Analysts to Explore Sustainable IT Infrastructure Trends at Gartner IT Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Strategies Conference in Sydney, May 15-16, 2023
Seventy-five percent of organizations will have implemented a data center infrastructure sustainability program driven by cost optimization and stakeholder pressures by 2027, up from less than 5% in 2022, according to Gartner, Inc.

'Responsibilities for sustainability are increasingly being passed down from CIOs to infrastructure and operations (I&O) leaders to improve IT's environmental performance, particularly around data centers,' said Autumn Stanish, Senior Principal Analyst at Gartner. 'This has led many down the path of greater spend and investment in environmental solutions, but environmental impact shouldn't be the only focus. Sustainability can also have a significant positive impact on non-environmental factors, such as brand, innovation, resilience and attracting talent.'

Considerations For Converting Buildings Into Modern Data Centers
Remote work, cloud-based computing, and streaming services have increased demand for high-speed internet - and, in turn, a market for secure data centers.
Remote work, cloud-based computing, and streaming entertainment have helped increase demand for widespread high-speed internet access in the last several years. With that demand comes a growing market for secure data centers.

One way developers, building owners, and facility operators are meeting the moment is by working with architects to convert existing buildings into modern data centers. Since 2018, HKS' Mission Critical design practice has renovated or re-purposed more than 250 buildings. Here, we highlight lessons learned from our experience making buildings into something they were not initially designed for.

Data Center Sustainability Becoming The Norm, Not The Exception
Sustainability initiatives like maximizing IT equipment lifecycles, using renewable energy and more can help save money, improve the environment and insulate themselves against risk, according to Gartner report.
The proportion of companies implementing a data center infrastructure sustainability program will rise from about 5% in 2022 all the way to 75% by 2027, as sustainability becomes an increasingly central consideration for cost optimization and risk management, according to new data from Gartner Research.

Respondents to a recent global survey of 221 IT leaders conducted by Gartner said that sustainability is already on the march within their organizations, with 42% saying that environmentally friendly choices are helping to drive business growth and provide a differentiator to their competition, and 29% reporting that it's helping to create strategic value through industry partnerships.

Accelerate Your Speed Of Business With IBM Event Automation
Customer needs and market dynamics are constantly shifting from one moment to the next. There are thousands of business events flowing through every part of your organization every day. These events can provide a wealth of information about what's actually happening across your business at any moment in time.
Organizations that can capitalize on this continual stream of business intelligence can spot trends, issues and opportunities, address threats, and act quickly.

But operationalizing business events is challenging. First, events can be locked away across a variety of different data sources, applications and systems. Businesses need a way to unlock the value of their events while they are still actionable.

Second, huge volumes of new events constantly take place across the organization. Businesses need a way to sort, filter and identify the key events that matter most while new ones continue to pour in.
